HCPS School Nurses
" I have valued working with the Harrisonburg community for over 30 years in student health services after graduating from Eastern Mennonite University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
Before I began my career with Harrisonburg City Public Schools, I worked at both Eastern Mennonite University and James Madison University health centers. I started with HCPS in 1994 and established the first full-time student health services. I worked for thirteen years at the elementary level and am now entering my thirteenth year of secondary education services at Harrisonburg High School. I am very proud that we now have a nurse in every HCPS building who is promoting the healthy development and wellbeing of all students.
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my husband and family, watching my daughters play soccer, reading, and refining my skills as a beekeeper. "

" I grew up in Rockingham County, moved around quite a bit as an adult, and have now found myself back in this lovely part of the world. I am excited to be working at THMS to support student health services as the nurse here.
Since finishing a nursing degree at Eastern Mennonite University in 1998, I have worked in infectious disease, community health, mental health, long term and skilled care, and nursing education. I completed a graduate degree in public health at Tulane University in 2004. I worked as a nurse in East and Southern Africa for 14 years and am grateful for the opportunity to use my Kiswahili language skills here at THMS and in the Harrisonburg community.
I enjoy spending time with my husband and two children, visiting art museums, playing card games, and taking walks in my neighborhood. "
" Hello HCPS family. This year marks my tenth year as the school nurse at Skyline Middle School. Before coming to Skyline, I was the school nurse at Orange Elementary. I love working with children and seeing them grow into amazing individuals.
I was born and raised in the Shenandoah Valley. I moved to the Charlottesville area for a few years and then returned to Harrisonburg. I have one child who is attending James Madison University. When I'm not working I enjoy hiking, spending time with family and friends, and eating at the local restaurants. "
" I have worked for over a decade at Harrisonburg City Public Schools as a school nurse. I grew up in Virginia on a farm about two hours from Harrisonburg. I first came to live in the valley to complete my last two years of high school and a nursing degree at Eastern Mennonite University. I decided to study nursing because I love helping people and am very passionate about wellness and promoting health for all people.
My husband and I, along with our three children, spent six years living and serving in Cusco, Peru, before returning to the U.S. and choosing the beautiful valley to call home. After living in the Andes Mountains for those years, I fell in love with the mountains. I enjoy hiking, gardening, baking, and spending time with friends, neighbors, and my family.
One benefit of living in South America was studying Spanish formally and being immersed in the language and culture. During those years, I became bilingual and that has been a huge blessing in my work with Spanish speaking students and their families. Because of my experience, I feel like I better understand what it is like for our families that moved from another country and need to communicate in a second language. I celebrate the cultural diversity that we have here in this community. "
" After obtaining an RN degree from Blue Ridge Community College, I began my nursing career working at the "old" Rockingham Memorial Hospital. I then went on to work in a nursing home and later became a school nurse substitute which is when I fell in love with school nursing. I have been a full-time Harrisonburg City School nurse for several years now and enjoy helping the Keister community.
My family and I live on a farm in Churchville. My husband, two sons, and I love spending time outdoors with our two dogs and cat. I am so blessed to be able to help the Harrisonburg City community. "
" I have been working in public/community health for the past fourteen years. My Introduction to public health started while working as a nutritionist assistant with the WIC (Women, Infants, and Children) nutrition program with the Virginia Department of Health. I later became a nursing assistant and it became clear that nursing was my calling. I obtained my nursing degree from Blue Ridge Community College in 2011 and then obtained my bachelor of science in nursing from Eastern Mennonite University. I worked for VDH for about ten years before making the move to school nursing in 2017.
I love working with students and their families. I was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY and am a first generation Mexican American. I am fluent in Spanish and love the opportunity that this gives me to connect with our students, and their parents. This also gives me the ability to help other team members communicate with limited English speakers. I moved to Harrisonburg in 2004 with my husband and kids. We love living in this area and enjoy all the beautiful scenery. I enjoy baking, crocheting, and spending time with family and friends when not in school. "
" Hi friends! My name is Teri Bosley and I am the school nurse for Smithland Elementary and Elon Rhodes Preschool. I have held the school nurse position at SMES since they opened in 2008 and have really enjoyed working alongside some of the best staff, students, and families around!
I began my nursing career in the early 1990s as an LPN and after several years working in that position, I decided to return to school to get my RN. Working with children is my passion and I am so thankful to be able to share that with the wonderful families of Harrisonburg City Public Schools.
I was born and raised in the Shenandoah Valley and attended school locally. I currently live in Rockingham County with my husband and two daughters. I love living in this area because it offers so many outdoor activities and opportunities to get some fresh air and exercise. When I am not at school, I enjoy cooking, reading, hiking, and spending time with my family. "
" I grew up in Rockingham County and never left! I graduated from Eastern Mennonite High School and Eastern Mennonite University. I have had lots of nursing experiences - from working in the newborn nursery at Rockingham Memorial Hospital, to working family practice in an office setting. In 2006 I started working at Harrisonburg City Public Schools. School Nursing is one of my favorite jobs ever.
When I'm not at work, I am at home with my husband and four children. We have lots of animals (cats, dogs, guinea pigs), and a few reptiles. I love to read, sew, take pictures, and travel. "
" I have worked as a nurse since graduating from Eastern Mennonite University in 1992. My experiences include working in the hospital in ICU and maternity and a pediatrics office before becoming a school nurse. I have always loved taking care of children and have enjoyed my role as a school nurse since 2011.
I am a transplant from Ohio and fell in love with the mountains of Virginia during college. My husband and I have also lived in South Carolina and Pennsylvania before returning to Virginia to raise our three, now adult, children. I enjoy walking, reading, scrapbooking, watching sports, and being outdoors with my family. It's an honor to work in such a diverse community. "
