HCPS has a subscription to Swank K-12 Streaming that gives us legal permission to stream films in our school buildings for both educational and entertainment purposes. Teachers and other educators cans can log in through their HCPS Google account or via the direct link in Clever’s Helpful links section:
To support you in selecting films appropriate for the students you teach, we have gathered a range of information including the age level recommended by Common Sense Media, information on audio options in Spanish and other languages, and more into this spreadsheet.
We currently have 227 titles available and it is a very simple process to request a new title. Librarians will be the school point of contact for Swank Streaming request approvals. Requests will be evaluated based on these criteria:
PreK/Elementary
Use of clips or excerpts from films and videos is permissible ONLY when it is clearly tied to content and language objectives aligned to an SOL. All film or video clips/excerpts must be previewed by the instructor before use with students to ensure it does not contain questionable content. Full-length films/videos should NOT be shown during the instructional day unless principal approval has been obtained.
Excerpts from a film or video, with a rating PG, require administrative approval and parental notification before use with students.
Secondary

New titles can take up to 24 hours to become available in the library following approval.
These same criteria apply to already approved titles in our Swank K-12 streaming library.
Up to 300 titles above and beyond the starter Swank K-12 streaming library can be requested per academic year. The library gets reset back to the starter set before each academic year so any additional titles would need to be requested annually.
HCPS purchases an Annual Performance Site License that allows K-12 schools to legally show copyrighted movies for non-teaching activities without the risk of copyright infringement. The license allows:
