Harrisonburg High School JROTC was established in 1989. The mission of Harrisonburg High school JROTC instructor group is to assist in the total development of the high school student so he/she can take his/her place as a responsible citizen in society.

 

Harrisonburg High School JROTC is under the direction of the Senior Army Instructor, Command Sergeant Major Richard Maccini and Sergeant First Class Matthew Enderle, Army Instructor. He provides an atmosphere designed to develop qualities of leadership. Through classroom and other instructional activities cadets gain self-discipline, patriotism, and a sense of responsibility that will enable them to better serve their country as a leader, a citizen, or a member of a service organization.

 

The Harrisonburg High School JROTC is also an Honor Unit with Distinction which means it scored at least 96 percent in each element of the inspection with a minimum of 576 points on the Cadet Formal Inspection and 400 points on the Unit Report. The Harrisonburg High School JROTC also includes six teams which include the Academic Team, Drill team, Color Guard, Raider team, Armed Exhibition, and Unarmed Exhibition team who practice weekly and compete in competitions throughout the year.
