Harrisonburg City Public Schools encourages educational research by agencies and institutions of higher learning. All research projects to be conducted in the schools must have prior approval by Superintendent and our internal Research Review Committee in accordance with our board policy and state code.

Requests for research to be conducted with our students or staff should be sent directly to the superintendent at least two months before data collection would begin and should include:

  • A brief overview of the study including possible impact on instructional time.
  • A copy of the IRB approval documents.

At its monthly meeting, the Research Review Committee, with input from the impacted building principals and other specialists, will review the submitted proposals and make a recommendation to the Superintendent for their decision.
