All students are required to have an additional Meningococcal Vaccine (MCV) prior to starting 12th Grade. This dose must be given after the age of 16. As you are visiting the doctor for Physicals or Annual appointments, please request this vaccine. If not, please schedule a vaccine appointment with your Primary care provider or the Health Department. Please bring proof of Vaccination to the Health Clinic, without this documentation you will be excluded from classes in the fall at the start of the year.

Learner's Permit Test at HHS
The test will be offered at HHS several times throughout the school year. The test will take place in room 310 and students taking the test at HHS must provide their own transportation home. When a student passes the test they are given a paper that states they passed. Before a learner's permit can be issued that paper must be taken to the DMV along with other identification documents, the student must get their vision checked, and the permit fees must be paid.  

In order to be eligible for the test a student must be at least 15 years and 6 months old. If a student has taken the test twice and not passed, the next attempt must occur at the DMV.

Physicals for the 2024/2025 School Year

• All students will need to obtain a sports physical dated after May 1, 2024 in order to participate in school sports and preseason workouts.
• Download the current VHSL Physical Form (Jan 2021 revision) or pick on up from the main office at HHS.

HCPS Illness Protocol

You need to keep your child at home if they have any of the following symptoms:

• Fever with a temperature of 100 degrees or higher. 
• Vomiting or diarrhea in the last 24 hours.  
• Cough that produces mucus that is not clear in color, and/or cough that sounds like a bark or is accompanied by a sore throat or wheezing.              
• Rash that blisters, develops pus, blisters or is uncomfortable.
• Conjunctivitis (pink eye): your child has red, itchy eyes with yellow to greenish “pus like” drainage, eyes are crusted over upon waking in the morning or continue to crust throughout the day.                    

                                                                                            
 When can your child return to school: 

• 24 hours after their last episode of vomiting
• 24 hours after their last episode of diarrhea.
• When they have been fever free (less than 100), WITHOUT the use of fever reducing medication, for 24 hours.
• When they have been seen by a medical doctor and a note is brought to school stating clearance to return to school and listing any restriction

Please contact the school every day that your child is absent.

Student Drop off Information
As you may have noticed, the number of families utilizing our morning drop-off lanes continues to increase. We ask for your help in keeping our process moving as smoothly as possible by taking note of the following directions and requests: 

• The primary location for drop off is entering from Garber's Church Road into the north student and staff parking lot. Families entering the lot will be supported by school staff in maneuvering traffic patterns. Please use caution as this parking area is also used for student drivers who are often new drivers needing some grace and patience as they maneuver the crowded parking lot. 
• The secondary entrance for drop off is the loop at the front of the building. Door 1, however is reserved for bus drop-offs and other students with mobility issues. 
• Please pull up as far as possible when it is your turn to drop off at the school. 
• Your student should be prepared to exit the vehicle as quickly as possible with all of their belongings. 
• Please do not switch drivers in the drop-off area
• Please do not park or leave your car unattended
• Please do not wait in your care with your student for the doors to open at 7:50. Students can gather in front of the north side doors on the sidewalk if onsite prior to the doors opening. 
• Please do not drop your student off anywhere else in the parking lot, to include pulling into other parking spaces. 

We appreciate our attention to these details and ask for your patience as we strive for a safe arrival at HHS.
