Related Services
Occupational Therapy
-- Services may include screening, evaluation, consultation and/or direct services for students whose fine motor skills, sensory-motor functioning, eye-hand coordination, and/or self-care skills limit classroom performance.
Physical Therapy
-- Services are based upon an educational model which provides evaluatory and treatment provisions for eligible students who are unable to participate appropriately in their educational plan due to the presence of physical impairments and/or motor dysfunctions. Services may include classroom consultations regarding positioning, handling and adaptations, as well as direct therapeutic services directed toward the enhancement of functional mobility.
Special Physical Education
-- Is a system of services that includes working directly, and indirectly with students, and student groups, while providing support to physical education teachers. Based upon an educational model, students receive individualized gross motor instruction in the least restrictive environment.
Assistive Technology
-- Is a related service which provides eligible, disabled students with the technological assistance necessary to participate in their educational program. A team approach is emphasized while both low tech and high tech options are considered according to their appropriateness.
Visiting Teaching/School Social Worker
-- Information and referrals, social work services, support services, coordination of homebound instruction, interagency collaboration and child find services are provided by qualified visiting teachers/school social workers.
Psychological Services
-- These related services may be required to assist a student with a disability to benefit from special education, and may include individual or group counseling, or consultation with parents, school staff or other specialists.
Specialized Transportation
-- Specialized equipment (such as special or adapted buses, lifts, and ramps), if required to provide special transportation for a child with a disability.
