How federal education funds are spent in local classrooms
This is one of 12 groups in an after-school program where students who need extra help in reading or math get individualized attention. Title I funds are allocated to schools with high numbers of students from low-income families. Here, they pay for teachers to work these extra hours outside of the normal school day.
HCPS will sponsor 29th Annual Youth Art Month Exhibit on March 1
In celebration of national Youth Art Month, Harrisonburg City Public Schools will sponsor a Youth Art Month exhibit during March. The show will be on view at the Valley Mall. An opening reception will be held in honor of the students on Saturday, March 1 from 11-1 PM. The show will be on view to the public through Monday, April 21, 2025. The Youth Art Month Show highlights artwork created by students from each school in Harrisonburg City. More than 200 pieces will be exhibited at the venue.
Science students swarm Valley Mall on Harrisonburg City Public Schools' STEM Day
The event highlighted a wide range of science demonstrations and activities for students. It was also a showcase for science, technology, engineering and math projects students have been working on, including the solar-powered mini cars that the city’s fifth graders built at school. This year’s event included a “chemistry magic show,” robotics demonstrations, and CPR training for kids, among other exhibitions. In the center of the mall, Civil Air Patrol members demonstrated aviation concepts for kids, including hydraulic machinery and a flight simulator.
