Concert Assessment and Virginia Honor Band
Congrats go out to the students of the Harrisonburg High School Blue Streak Bands for their outstanding performances this weekend at the Virginia Band and Orchestra Directors District V Concert Band Assessment at Broadway High School. Ensembles are assessed by four evaluators who analyze the band's performance in seven categories: Tone Quality, Intonation, Technique, Rhythm, Balance, Musicianship, and General Factors.
The Concert Band, conducted by Claire Leeper, earned Superior and Excellent Ratings and an overall Excellent Rating for their performance.
The Symphonic Band, conducted by Daniel Upton, earned straight Superior Ratings for an overall Superior Rating for their performance.
The Virginia Band and Orchestra Directors Association will award the Harrisonburg High School Band with the Virginia Honor Band award for this Superior performance along with the Superior performance of the Marching Blue Streak Band at the State Marching Assessment in the fall. This will be Harrisonburg's 6th Virginia Honor Band award!
Congrats to all of our students for their hard work and success!
