Division Goals for 2012-2013

  • Achievement based on equity and high expectations
    • All entering 9th grade students will be working toward an advanced or standard diploma.  The percentage of 4-year graduates in 2012-2013 receiving a standard or advanced diploma will increase by 10%.
    • There will be a 10% increase of middle school students obtaining a high school credit.
    • All rising 8th graders will have a college and/or career readiness plan.
    • All entering kindergarten students will be at the third grade reading level upon leaving 3rd grade.
  • Professional development and growth for all staff
    • By January 2013, all staff will have a targeted professional development plan based on their interests and professional goals.
    • During 2012-2013 school year, all teachers will participate in one professional growth opportunity.
    • By January 2013, HCPS will design a three-year new teacher and leadership mentoring program.
  • Parent and community engagement and partnerships
    • Every school will have a community advisory council.
    • As a school division, we will facilitate at least two community-wide celebrations to promote our programs.
  • Social and emotional development
    • Each school will establish a peer mediation program by the end of the 2012-2013 school year.
    • Each school will establish a conflict resolution program, including a bullying prevention model.
